MTC MADNESS

The MTC is really an amazing place, and we are having a great time. All of the good food at the buffet reminds me of our fun cruise last summer, which I just loved. But all of the homework reminds me of being in school, and I am ready for recess. The problem is partly that I'm a little tired. We played too hard before getting down here to the MTC, and I haven't had time for a nap. We have gotten up early and exercised at the gym. We have been learning some of the lessons out of "Preach My Gospel" and attempting to teach them to "investigators". Last night we went to the devotional. Elder Marlin K. Jensen and his wife spoke. They were fantastic. The most amazing thing for me was the music--we all sang "Onward Christian Soldiers", and the tenors from the choir added some wonderful harmony. It was very powerful and brought tears to my eyes. All in all, it is being a growing experience for both of us.

Kurt and Ted's Retirement Party

Kurt Jr. and Jeremy, with much help from the ladies in their office, threw a fun retirement party for Kurt and Ted Kasper. Ted has been our sales manager for about 25 years. He and his wife, Shona, are soon leaving to serve a mission in Bangalore, India. That is even farther away than Lagos, Nigeria. They both had visits from old friends and favorite customers. Jeremy rescued a couple of bricks from our old building that he had engraved messages put on. Kurt's placque says,

A BUSINESS, A BUILDING, A LIFE
BUILT ONE BRICK AT A TIME!
THANK YOU.

It was a great nostalgic afternoon. I sure enjoyed visiting with everyone that I bumped into. The Krupps and the Kaspers look forward to a reunion after our missions to compare stories. What adventures await us next?

Valentine Party

Thursday, we had a little valentine get together with the grandkids so their parents could go out on a date. Their great grandma Rose sent me a check for the holiday, so I thought it would be fun to share it with them. We had our usual pizza dinner, played a few games, fed them some candy and sent them home. We have the best grandkids.

Kurt and I exchanged our Valentine gifts, and we gave each other the same thing! We figured out that we can wear Crocs in Nigeria because the will work well in the dirt and mud (just hose them off). Check out my hot pink ones!

Getting with the Blog Scene

Alicia is helping me get this blog page set up. I'm hoping this will be a fun way to keep my friends and family up to date with our adventures in Africa.

Right now we are still getting ready to go and spending time with the family. Tonight all of the grandkids came over for a Valentine pizza party.

Right now at the Castle of Krupp, we are having a snowy, snowy winter. I'm getting tired of all the white stuff and hope there will be lots of flowers in Nigeria when I get there.
